'Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am’ . - John 8:58
During the past weeks we have focused on the I Am claims of Jesus Christ.
At the end of a long discussion with the Jews in John 8:53, they asked Jesus, ‘Who do you make yourself out to be?’ Jesus said he existed before Abraham, and also claimed to be God by calling Himself I AM, as God did to Moses from the burning bush in Exodus 3:14 ‘I am who I am’.
John 1:1- 2 ‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God’. Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
How reassuring to know we are trusting in One who is eternal. Revelation 1:8 I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty’. We can trust Him to deal with our past, to be with us in the present and to keep us in the future until the day He take us to His eternal home. No earthly insurance policy can measure that!
Revelation 1:17 – 18 ‘Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades’. Revelation 22:17 – 18 we have the last gracious invitation in the Bible ‘The Spirit and the Bride say, Come. And let the one who hears say, Come. And let the one who is thirsty come, let the one who desires, take the water of life without price’. An invitation from the infinite I AM!
Faithful One, so unchanging
Ageless One, You’re my rock of peace
Lord of all, I depend on You
I call out to You, Again and again
You are my Rock in times of trouble
You lift me up when I fall down
All through the storm Your love is the anchor
My hope is in You alone
