LMI's 'A word for your week' devotional taken from Psalm 23:3

Jehovah Rapha  - The Lord who heals

“He restores my soul”. - Psalm 23 v3a

The Psalmist knew that at times a sheep literally needs to be restored. If it became stuck on its back and unable to get up it could die from exhaustion and dehydration. Sometimes the shepherd cares for weak, sick or orphaned lambs.

Our good shepherd has provided healing and help for His flock. 1st Peter 2:24b-25 states  ‘By his wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls’

The Psalmist implies there were times his soul was weighed down and needed restoring. Psalm 147:3 promises ‘He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds’. The Good Shepherd is the healer and restorer of hurting hearts. His grace is sufficient for our every need.

My lips shall praise You

My great Redeemer

My heart will worship

Almighty Saviour.

You took all my guilt away

Turn the darkest night to brightest day

You are the restorer of my soul

Love that conquers every fear

In the midst of trouble You draw near

You are the restorer of my soul

You’re the source of happiness

Bringing peace when I am in distress

You are the restorer of my soul.
