“One night, shepherds at Bethlehem had an amazing birth announcement from heaven that far surpasses any social media post! The angel said, ‘“Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” (Luke 2:10-12, ESV)

Away in a Manger is often considered to be a favourite carol for children, but, in reality, it is much-loved by people from across the generations. It describes the amazing truth that the Creator of the universe came down to earth to be born as a helpless baby. The One who flung the stars into space now slept in a stable as the stars lit up the dark sky. Mary cradled Him gently and laid Him in a manger bed.

Jesus was indeed the One who came to give light to all of us who allow Him to fit us for Heaven. We can echo the words, ‘I love thee Lord Jesus’. He will be with us forever!”

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.
The stars in the sky looked down where he lay,
The little Lord Jesus asleep in the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus no crying he makes.
I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky
And stay by my side until morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
And fit us for heaven, to live with Thee there.
