The Lord Jesus is again using a familiar illustration to teach spiritual truth to his disciples.

He has already been preparing them for the time, He will return to heaven and send The Holy Spirit to be their comforter.

John 14:16 ‘And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever’.

‘I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep’ - John 10:11

Seeing the lambs in the fields these past weeks, has been a reminder of the many times we read of the shepherd and his sheep in the Bible. Travelling in the open countryside during an oversees mission trip, it was amazing to observe a shepherd looking after his large flock of sheep.

David wrote Psalm 23 reflecting on his experience of shepherd life.

‘I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.’ - John 10:11

The Lord Jesus often used everyday illustrations to teach spiritual truths to His followers. He is the perfect teacher, showing us how to relate the Bible message to others. 

The sheepfold was usually a circle of rocks with an opening for the sheep to go in and out. The shepherd would guard the entrance at night to protect the sheep from danger, he was quite literally the door of the sheepfold.

Dynamics of Discipleship students baptised in Burundi

LMI are delighted to share news from Burundi, where, after three weeks of teaching from LMI’s ‘Dynamics of Discipleship’ course, nine people made professions of faith in Christ and were baptised.

LMI are delighted to share wonderful news from Burundi, where, after three weeks of teaching from LMI’s ‘Dynamics of Discipleship’ course, nine people (five men and four women) made professions of faith in Christ and were baptised last weekend in Bujumbura Province! 🇧🇮😀
 
One church leader commented, “I think these teachings are needed in many denominations here in Bujumbura. I am convinced we may have to restart as leaders…”.
