Praise the Lord! Praise, O servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord!
Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and forevermore! From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised!
The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens!
Who is like the Lord our God, who is seated on high, who looks far down on the heavens and the earth?

Blessed is the man, who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. - Psalm 118:24 (ESV)
This psalm was written during difficult times in the psalmist’s life. His enemies were surrounding him and he cried out in anguish to the Lord. He reminded himself that God was with him no matter what his circumstances were. As he continued to ponder the presence of God with him, he said “this is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” It is the pivotal verse of the Psalm.
